We have loved learning all about the meaning behind pancake day. We now know this day is called ‘Shrove Tuesday’ and we know why we use all of our cupboard ingredients up. Today we learned some new words too such as lent, hob, batter, stir, mix, flip, toss, sprinkle and squeeze! Most of us loved the taste of the pancakes…ask us to tell you about it.

In nursery there are so many opportunities for us to read, listen and share stories. We love to look at fact books and are interested in reading from an early age; whether it be just looking at pictures or trying to work out what the story says. Don’t forget to share a story at bedtime with us…

The nursery children have been learning about the first woman to enter space which was Valentina Tereshkova. She orbited the Earth 48 times in 1963 taking photographs that have helped us learn a lot about our planet. Look at all of our impressive work…

We took full advantage of the snow today. We’ve been experiencing the snow both indoors and outdoors. We’ve discussed what it is, where it has come from and what it feels like. We’ve made snowmen by moulding the snow and then enjoyed watching them melt indoors. Then we discussed why this had happened. We also looked at our footprints in the snow outside and wrote numbers in it too.

This week we have learnt a lot about the different features of many types of dinosaur. You will be so surprised with the new knowledge we now have about flying or land dinosaurs. Why not get some dinosaurs out to play with at home and see what we tell you! We have learnt some fantastic new vocabulary this week too – ask us what a fossil is or what the word hatched means….
